Our Veterinarians
Dr. Paul Davis
DVM, Owner, Veterinarian
A 1992 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Paul Davis has devoted his career to providing excellent small animal care throughout the Metro East. He founded Davis Pet Hospital in 2012 alongside his wife, Dr. Karin Crocker, with a shared goal of creating a welcoming, family-centered practice focused on excellence in medicine and compassionate client service.
Dr. Davis’ professional interests include soft tissue surgery and emergency medicine, and he is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society, Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, Greater St. Louis Veterinary Medical Association, and the Cornell Feline Health Center.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Davis enjoys bass fishing and serves as the secretary/treasurer of the Steel City Bassmasters. He and Dr. Crocker have called Collinsville home for nearly three decades, where they continue to build meaningful relationships with local families and their pets.
Dr. Karin Crocker
DVM, Owner, Veterinarian
Also a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine (Class of 2009), Dr. Karin Crocker co-founded Davis Pet Hospital to deliver veterinary care that combines cutting-edge medicine with genuine compassion. Her professional interests include neurology and gastroenterology, and she approaches each patient with thoughtful, individualized attention.
Dr. Crocker and Dr. Davis have lived in Collinsville, IL, for nearly 30 years. They share their home with their German Shepherd, Eden, and their brown tabby cat, Rue. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Crocker enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
Dr. Edwina Schmitz
DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Edwina Schmitz joined Davis Pet Hospital in 2016, bringing with her a deep commitment to improving the lives of pets and their families. A 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, she has practiced in both Indiana and Nebraska and is thrilled to be back in her home state of Illinois.
Dr. Schmitz enjoys all aspects of general small animal medicine, from preventive care to diagnostics and treatment. Outside of work, she loves gardening, cycling, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and their two cats.
Dr. Tatro-AuBuchon
DVM, Veterinarian
Originally from Illinois, Dr. Tatro-AuBuchon earned her veterinary degree from Ross University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She has extensive experience in both emergency and general small animal medicine and is passionate about helping pets live longer, healthier, and more comfortable lives.
Dr. Tatro’s calm and empathetic approach helps even the most nervous pets feel at ease during visits. She and her husband share their home with their beloved dog, Theodore. When she’s not at the hospital, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.
Dr. John Ring
DVM, Veterinarian
After completing a Master’s degree in Physiology at the SIU-C School of Medicine, Dr. Ring earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. Following several years in large animal practice, he transitioned to small animal medicine and has served the St. Louis Metro East community since 1992.
Dr. Ring’s areas of expertise include general medicine and surgery, and his decades of experience allow him to provide sound, compassionate guidance to every client. He and his wife, Patty, enjoy maintaining their home and wooded property in rural St. Jacob, IL, where they spend much of their free time outdoors.
